Black Myth: Wukong Wiki

There are three Staff Stances in Black Myth: Wukong. They are Smash Stance, Pillar Stance and Thrust Stance. Each of the stances have their own skill tree that costs Sparks to upgrade and enhances the stance. There is also a Talent tree that can enhance other aspects of the combat.

Smash Stance[]

The Smash Stance is unlocked from the start.

Smash Stance: The Heavy Attack of the Smash Stance, capable of charging while moving around in battle, is highly versatile and the best choice for engaging in tactical combats.

Force Unbound: Enables Sprinting while charging.

Pillar Stance[]

The Guardian Triplet for the Pillar Stance is unlocked by interacting with a statue near the Black Wind King. Enables powerful thrust attacks while dodging.

Great Sage Form/Wukong Stance[]

There is a fourth secret stance that Sun Wukong/Destined One uses which combines all three stances into one stance. Fragment of the Ocean-Settling Pillar, which lengthens the time the player can use this stance for, refers to it as "the Great Sage form". It is unofficially called the Wukong Stance by the fans of Black Myth: Wukong.

First used by Sun Wukong in the prologue, the stance is initially only available to the Destined One as long as the player is in Mount Huagou (Chapter 6), and only so long as they are wearing the full Monkey King's Armor Set with the Jingubang equipped. The stance can be used freely at this point, until it is lost during the second phase of the final boss fight. In order to obtain this stance for the rest of the game the player must unlock all 18 Relic perks (you must defeat Erlang Shen in three cycles to maximize Free Mind), and again equip the Monkey King's Armor Set and the Jingubang.

Charge up anytime

In order to activate the Wukong Stance, the player must fill their focus meter beyond maximum and perform a heavy attack. Once you've collected all six Relics three times you'll see a new threshold between the fourth focus point and the "Wukong Stance focus point". It takes a deceptively large amount of focus to charge this. With Supreme Gourd and three Steel Gensing, 5 drinks to almost charge four Focus Points, 10 drinks to charge the stance.

Once charged, you can wait to activate the stance. To enter the stance perform a Heavy Attack and it will become a new unique LV 4 Heavy Attack, after which you will enter the new stance for 60 seconds. This can be extended to 120 seconds by equipping the Fragment of the Ocean-Settling Pillar, obtained by clearing the "Monkey Mind" challenge in Gauntlet of Legends. Upon entering the Great Sage form, the Destined One/Sun Wukong will make a heroic declaration accompanied by musical fanfare.

While using this stance, the range of your Light Attack Combo will be noticeably extended, the speed of charging Focus Attacks is noticeably faster, you can freely charge to the fourth Focus Point, and all actions cost no stamina. You will gain an additional 25% Attack (40% with the Curio equipped), and 25% Damage Reduction.

Moveset[]

This stance has a large amount of Varied Combos. Similar to Non-Able, a different Varied Combo is available after every input of the Light Attack Combo, with the alternative to the Light Attack Finisher becoming Pillar Stance's Heavy Attack. You can charge up to three Focus Points as normal, and benefit from Skylarking and Towering Mountain as well, but you still can't charge to a LV 4 Pillar Stance while in this form.

  • Light Attack Combo
    • Resolute Strike
      • Skyfall Strike
    • Unnamed Varied Combo I - A spinning horizontal strike followed by what seems to be Thrust Stance's Heavy Attack, consumes a Focus Point
      • Skyfall Strike
    • Unnamed Varied Combo II - A singular horizontal strike in an arc, consumes a Focus Point
      • Churning Gale - does not consume an additional Focus Point, Collapsing Gale does not affect this or damage
    • Pillar Stance Heavy Attack
  • Unnamed Sprinting Light Attack
  • Staff Throw - Perform a Mobile Spin, then a Staff Spin, then press the Heavy Attack button. Consumes a Focus Point.
  • Heavy Attack: Smash Stance - Smash Stance's LV 2 Heavy Attack is now the first level, LV 3 Heavy Attack being on the second level, LV 4 Heavy Attack assigned on the third level, and the unique triple-hitting heavy attack is now on the fourth level.
